Hi.

Welcome to The Glasgow Food Blog. I love Glasgow, and I love food. It's a match made in heaven.

Tantrum Doughnuts
35 Old Dumbarton Road, Glasgow West End G3 8RD

I was starting to feel like I was the only person in Glasgow who hadn't made it along to Tantrum Doughnuts so I was very excited when Sharon M suggested we visit after lunch at The Grumpy Goat nearby.

I love that they're doing one thing (and a few side things) and doing it really well. This is a doughnut place, so don't go expecting sandwiches, pies or fancy dress costumes. It's all about the doughnuts.

The shop is small - there's some seats if you want to eat in (maybe about 10) but it seems like mostly a take away operation. We waited in line (something I never do) to be served - the staff were friendly and smiley which is nice to see! The doughnuts are all made fresh so you might not get a full selection but I was impressed with what was on offer and the pricing - most doughnuts are around £1.70 - £2.50 which is very cheap when you consider that they're proper fancy gourmet doughnuts!

I made Sharon M pay for my doughnuts because I erroneously thought I didn't have any cash. They take card so I could have paid for my own damn doughnuts (and I later discovered that I  did indeed have cash - yesterday was one big fail for me). Anyway. I got a creme brulee (£1.75 take away) and a pistachio creme brulee (£2.30 take away) which I then I had to leave in the car for 8 hours which I feel is some sort of crime against doughnuts. Safe to say the doughnuts looked absolutely hideous from sweating in the car for 8 hours so I didn't take a photo but I was stoked to find they still tasted super good! I love how they have a glaze on them so they really are like a creme brulee!

With Grunting Growler (beers!) opening down the road today, you really will be able to treat yourself to the ultimate afternoon of beers and doughnuts! I'll be doing that soon, for sure.

Note: I know what I said yesterday about not really being a cake person, well that is still true - I only had half a doughnut last night and had to stop there because that was enough sweetness for me!

They also do coffee, milkshakes and marshmallows if you want an accompaniment to your doughnuts.

And you get 10% off if you buy a dozen.
