Hi.

Welcome to The Glasgow Food Blog. I love Glasgow, and I love food. It's a match made in heaven.

Halloumi
161 Hope Street, Glasgow City Centre G2 2UQ

I love Greek food but rarely eat it, so was super keen to check out the brand new Halloumi. I popped in for a quick meal on my way to something else and got a really friendly greeting from the waiter Scott who showed me to my table and gave me a menu to look over. They're cash only just now which he warned me about before I ordered which I appreciated!

Inside is really nice. I love the decor - it's fresh, modern and has a definite sea breeze/Mediterranean feel to it. On a hot Glasgow day, I could nearly believe I was on the continent!

I ordered the taramasalata and a chicken kebab. The menu has small plate options (meze) and they recommend 3 per person. I only got two because I was on my way somewhere else which was actually a good amount of food for a light meal. The taramasalata was a really generous portion and came with a lot of pitta - just delicious. I couldn't eat it all on my own but it would be fine between two people. The chicken kebab took a while to arrive - I say a while, I'm going to guess it was between 10-15 minutes but I was in a hurry, so I was totally clock watching. It was worth the wait though. Two kebabs, a nice sized portion and totally succulent and delicious. I couldn't fault it.

With a drink of ginger beer, the bill came to just over £12. I really liked the quick half hour I had here and will be back ASAP for a proper meal to enjoy it properly.
