Enjoy the Taste of Scotland, Tesco Silverburn
Last year in May we visited the Taste of Scotland fair at George Square in Glasgow and were blown away with the amount of (free) food and alcohol available to try. Especially in comparison to the BBC Good Food Show which we attended later on that year. It had paid admission and not as many free samples and was a bit of a disappointment.
So we were excited to be able to return this year and see how the Taste of Scotland fair works as a roadshow. This year it has visited Elgin and Perth and we dropped in to Silverburn this morning. Notably, the fair is a lot smaller than when it was located at George Square with less exhibitors. It is also outside and partly open air, which on a day like today with intermittent showers is not too pleasant. We were there nice and early and got to try lots of different items at different stalls, and it wasn't too busy. We had a great time but only spent about an hour there as there didn't seem to be anything on at the cookery theatre, and the advertised times for chefs seemed to change while we were there.
Mostly we were excited to be able to try out our new camera, a Canon EOS 400D. Hopefully you can see a difference in the photos - we are still learning how to use it though!
Tasty Cosmo Pizza - Scottish Triple Cheese
Can't resist a Brew Dog - even at 10.30am!
Succulent strawberries and robust raspberries from Good Natured Fruit
Massive selection of Scottish meats
Even more meat
Tunnock's tea cakes
Mackie's of Scotland chips (or crisps) - amazing variety of very Scottish flavours
This was a great free event to attend and it's great to see a massive supermarket like Tesco promoting Scottish produce, as well as so many people dropping in for a visit. I'll have my fingers crossed that it returns to George Square next year though!
